CastHub AI and MCP

Setup guides for Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor and Gemini, what the 58 tools in the CastHub MCP server cover, and how permissions work.

CastHub exposes a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that lets AI assistants control your digital signage account. You can manage presentations, devices, schedules, and alerts in natural language from Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, Cursor, and other MCP-compatible clients. A command-line interface is available for shell scripts, CI pipelines, and AI agents that cannot use MCP directly.

This section covers setup for each client and a reference of what you can do once connected.

Pick your tool

Prerequisites

An active CastHub account. The MCP server does not create accounts. Sign up at https://dashboard.cast-hub.com/register-user.

The MCP server works with any CastHub plan, including the free tier. It adds no separate paywall. Feature access matches your existing account.

You can sign in with your CastHub email and password, Google, or Microsoft.

How it works

The MCP server runs at https://webapi.cast-hub.com/mcp. AI assistants connect using OAuth 2.0 with PKCE and dynamic client registration. No API key is required. You sign in once through your AI assistant and approve access to your CastHub account.

The CLI is a separate path that uses JWT bearer authentication for shell scripts, CI pipelines, and agents that cannot use MCP directly. Both paths connect to the same backend.

What you can do

The MCP server exposes approximately 58 tools across the following areas:

AreaExamples
PresentationsList, create, update, delete. Add slides as web pages, images, or videos.
PreviewGet a preview URL after creating or modifying a presentation.
DevicesList, rename, move between groups, delete.
Device groupsCreate groups, assign presentations and schedules.
SchedulesView, assign linear or weekly schedules to groups.
AlertsStart text alerts or alert presentations, stop alerts.
Device commandsReboot, power on or off, schedule recurring commands.
Account and dashboardUser info, subscription status, network overview.

Permissions and safety

Every tool is annotated with hints that AI clients use to decide when to prompt for confirmation. Read-only tools that list or view data run freely. Write actions such as create and update are marked explicitly. Destructive actions such as delete, alerts, reboots, and power-off prompt for explicit confirmation before running.

You can revoke connector access at any time from your AI assistant’s settings.
