Add a YouTube video to your CastHub playlist
YouTube videos can be added to a CastHub presentation in two ways: as a Video URL slide pointing to the YouTube link, or by downloading the video (where you have rights to do so) and adding it as an uploaded video file. This article covers the URL approach. Direct upload is covered in our Direct Video File Upload guide.
Add a YouTube URL as a video slide
Copy the URL of the YouTube video. In CastHub, open or create a presentation, choose Add Video URL, paste the URL, and save. The slide will play the video on supported platforms while online.
Vimeo
Vimeo URLs work the same way: paste the public Vimeo URL into a Video URL slide. Vimeo videos that are private or password-protected will not play through CastHub because the playback app cannot authenticate.
When to upload directly instead
Use direct upload (under Add Video File) when you want consistent playback without depending on YouTube being reachable, when the screen will be in an environment with intermittent internet, or when the video should not appear on YouTube at all. Uploaded video files are also cached for offline playback on supported platforms; YouTube and Vimeo URLs are not.
Platform support
Video URL slides play online on Android TV, Amazon Signage Stick, Apple TV, and Roku. They do not play on Tizen TV.
