Set up CastHub on Roku
The CastHub Roku app is in the Roku Channel Store. This guide covers install, activation, and the limits that are specific to Roku.
Install
From your Roku, go to the Roku Channel Store, search for CastHub, and add the channel. Open the channel after install. The app shows an activation code on screen.
Activate
In the CastHub web app, go to Devices and choose Verify Device. Enter the code shown on the Roku screen and confirm. The Roku will sync within a few seconds and start playing the presentation assigned to its device group.
What works on Roku
Online playback of uploaded image slides, image URL slides, and uploaded video file slides. Automatic sync with CastHub when presentations, schedules, or alerts change. Token storage so the device stays activated across reboots.
What does not work on Roku
Roku does not cache content for offline playback. Web page slides are not supported. External video URL slides (YouTube, Vimeo, and similar) are not supported. Remote device commands (reboot, display power, cache clear, screenshot) and scheduled device commands are not available on Roku.
If you need any of those features
Use Amazon Signage Stick instead. It has the most complete feature set: offline caching, remote commands, scheduled device commands, and support for every slide type.
