Governance Framework
When AI Controls Physical Screens, Trust Isn't Optional.
AI-controlled digital signage demands more than capability. It demands accountability.
The Gap
The Problem Nobody Else Is Solving
CastHub MCP brings the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to digital signage, giving AI assistants the ability to manage screens through natural conversation. But with that power comes a question the industry is ignoring: what happens when AI gets it wrong?
AI can push content to screens in school hallways, hospital lobbies, and corporate offices. Unlike a chatbot that gives a bad answer, when AI-controlled digital signage makes a mistake, the consequences are real and physical. The wrong message on a hospital screen, an accidental broadcast across every screen in a school district, a confidential slide deck pushed to the lobby display.
The industry is rushing to add AI without thinking about what happens when it goes wrong. Competitors like Fugo, NoviSign, and Screenly offer MCP integrations, but none of them have built a preview-before-confirm layer. They give AI write access to physical screens with no confirmation step and no visual preview before changes hit the wall.
CastHub takes a different approach. Every write operation goes through a governance framework designed for the realities of physical screen management.
Trust Architecture
The Four Pillars
Preview Live
Before any write operation executes, the AI shows you exactly what will change. Which screens. What content. What schedule modification. Nothing happens without visibility. You see the full impact before a single pixel changes on any physical display.
Confirmation Live
You decide. The AI presents the action, you approve or reject. For bulk operations affecting all screens, confirmation is elevated with an impact summary. For emergency operations, a dedicated confirmation flow provides additional context and warnings before execution.
Rollback Building Now
In development. Reversible write operations (content pushes, schedule changes, device configuration updates) will let you restore the previous state with a single command. Until rollback ships, the preview-before-confirm flow is your first line of defense.
Audit Log Building Now
In development. The audit log will record who initiated each write (which user, which AI assistant), what was requested, what was previewed, whether it was confirmed or rejected, what executed, and the result. We will not claim it as live until it ships.
See Before You Send
Most AI integrations confirm actions with text: "Push content to 8 screens. Confirm?" That asks you to trust a description. CastHub's visual preview renders the actual content as it will appear on your screens, using the same player technology that runs on the physical displays. You see exactly what your audience will see before you approve.
Here's what your screens will show:
This will display on 4 lobby screens and 4 breakroom screens. Confirm?
No surprises
See formatting, layout, and content appearance before it hits screens.
Visual approval
Non-technical users review visually, not by interpreting text descriptions.
Catch errors early
Content errors are caught before they reach physical screens.
What you see is what they see
Powered by the same rendering engine as the physical displays.

Tiered Governance
Risk Levels Live
Not every operation carries the same risk. CastHub classifies each tool by impact level and applies governance proportionally.
| Level | Category | Operations | Behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Read | Screen status, presentations list, schedules, screen capture, device health | Immediate execution — no confirmation needed |
| 2 | Standard Write | Push content to group, update schedule, restart device, display on/off (single/group), clear cache | Preview + explicit confirmation |
| 3 | Bulk Write | Push content to all screens, display on/off for all screens | Elevated confirmation with impact summary |
| 4 | Emergency / Destructive | Emergency alert to all screens, factory reset | Dedicated confirmation flow with warnings |
Note: Device commands (restart, display control, factory reset) follow the same governance framework as software operations. Physical device actions are subject to the same preview-before-confirm flow and risk-level annotations.
K-12 & Higher Ed
Why This Matters for Education
Schools have a unique responsibility: every screen in a hallway, cafeteria, or classroom is visible to students, parents, and staff. The stakes for inappropriate or incorrect content are higher than in any other environment.
Content control over hallway and classroom screens
Administrators maintain full visibility into what AI is pushing to every display in the building, with preview and confirmation before anything goes live.
Role-based dashboard access today, scoped MCP permissions in development
CastHub's dashboard supports role-based access for teachers, office staff, and IT admins. Per-tool scoped permissions for MCP are in development so AI access can be limited to the same boundaries as the dashboard.
Confirmation prevents accidental broadcasts
No more "send to all" accidents. Bulk operations require elevated confirmation with a clear summary of exactly how many screens and which buildings will be affected.
Audit log in development
When the audit log ships, you will have a complete record: who asked, what the AI proposed, who confirmed, and when it went live. Until then, the preview-before-confirm flow keeps every change visible to the approving user at the moment of approval.
Enterprise & Healthcare
Why This Matters for Enterprise
Enterprise environments operate under regulatory requirements, multi-location complexity, and zero tolerance for content mishaps on customer-facing and employee-facing screens.
Healthcare: patient-facing content review
Content on screens in waiting rooms, patient floors, and exam rooms must be reviewed before it goes live. The governance layer ensures no AI-generated content reaches patients without human approval.
Corporate: audit log in development for compliance coverage
SOX, HIPAA adjacency, and internal compliance policies demand traceability. The audit log in development will record every AI-initiated screen change with user identity, timestamp, action details, and outcome. Until it ships, the preview-confirm flow captures the human approval at the moment of decision.
Multi-location: isolation between sites
Governance prevents one location's change from affecting others. Screen groups, permission boundaries, and scoped operations ensure that a content push to the Chicago office stays in the Chicago office.
Rollback in development
Reversible write operations are in development. Until they ship, the preview-before-confirm flow stops the wrong content from going to the wrong building in the first place.
